Social media platform Facebook has acquired exclusive free-to-air rights for football’s Uefa Champions League and Uefa Super Cup in Spanish-speaking Latin American territories.
Under the deal, Facebook will show live coverage of 32 Champions League matches per season, including the Champions League final and the Super Cup season curtain-raiser.
The agreement will run for three seasons, from 2018-19 to 2020-21.
The matches will be available on the Champions League’s official Facebook page, with Wednesday evening highlights and magazine programmes also available via the page.
It is the second major football rights deal secured by Facebook this week after the social media platform acquired rights for Spain’s LaLiga in the Indian subcontinent for three seasons, from 2018-19 to 2020-21.
