The Sportfive International agency has extended an agreement with the International Basketball Federation, Fiba, for the distribution of the global governing body’s media rights in Asia.
Under the deal, which excludes Japan and the pan-Arab region, Sportfive will continue to distribute rights to Fiba tournaments through to the 2015 Asia Championships for men and women.
Sportfive will also sell rights to the Fiba Basketball World Cup and continental championships for men and for women.
Events covered by the deal include: the 2013 Asia Championship in the Philippines, the 2013 Asia Women’s Championship in Thailand, the 2014 Basketball World Cup in Spain and the 2014 Women’s World Championship in Turkey.
“We hope that this renewal will become just one of many projects as we move forward this year and develop new basketball opportunities,” Sportfive chief executive Shaila-Ann Rao said.
