The International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) has signed a two-year deal for the Dorna Sports agency to manage the television rights for a number of championships promoted by the governing body.
Dorna currently acts as the commercial rights holder to the MotoGP motorcycling championship and its Moto2 and Moto3 series.
It will now also oversee the television rights for the FIM Trial, X-Trial, Ice Speedway, Speedway GP Challenge, Sidecar and Cross-Country Rallies World Championships, as well as the International Six Days’ Enduro.
FIM chief executive Ignacio Verneda said: “I am very satisfied with the agreement signed with Dorna Sports which will enable the championships managed directly by the FIM to be broadcast more widely. We also hope to be able to help the organisers and riders to find sponsors and to pursue the development of our championships.”
Manel Arroyo, managing director of Dorna Sports, added: “We are very pleased that the FIM have again demonstrated their trust in Dorna with these distribution rights. It's always a key goal of ours to promote various championships and to do whatever we can to further increase the profile of motorcycle racing.”
