The International Ski Federation (FIS) has launched a new official mobile application, which is available for download on Android and iOS devices and includes a host of video content.
The app has been created in conjunction with the Infront Sports & Media agency and its subsidiary, digital media company Omnigon.
The app will place a key focus on video material including near-live clips, which will be made available five minutes after World Cup races, as well as highlights from events. Exclusive video material will be accessible through the app.
The app will include a behind-the-scenes video series for the cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, alpine and freestyle skiing and snowboarding disciplines during the World Cup series.
The platform will also feature official results, data and live timing to run alongside editorial coverage on the FIS website. Users will also benefit from a tailored experience, with the app including the option to select favourite athletes and nations to receive custom content and push notifications.
Data and live timing from the federation’s previous mobile site has been incorporated in a richer format to allow fans to use it as a second screen during television broadcasts, or as a standalone news source.
“This is an important step forward to present and promote the sport of skiing even better, while enhancing the services to fans of the sport, as well as the FIS membership, our partners and the global media,” FIS president Gian Franco Kasper said.
