US broadcaster Fox has added five more competitions to its broadcast rights partnership with Concacaf, the governing body of football in North and Central America and the Caribbean.
The Fox Soccer pay-television channel will broadcast Concacaf’s 2013 Men’s Under-17 and Under-20 Championships, 2014 Women’s Under-17 and Under-20 Championships, and the qualifying competition for the 2015 Women’s Fifa World Cup.
“Our expanded relationship with Fox Soccer in the United States is a tangible example of the growing popularity that our competitions are experiencing within our region,” president of Concacaf, Jeffrey Webb, said. “We are hopeful that this comprehensive coverage model will serve as the benchmark for future years.”
The agreement comes after Fox in August renewed its deal with Concacaf for rights to the confederation’s Champions League club competition and the biennial Gold Cup international tournament, until 2016. The four-year agreement included four seasons of the Champions League – 2012-13 to 2015-16 – and the 2013 and 2015 Gold Cups.
