Fox agrees Concacaf Champions League deal

Fox International Channels Latin America has agreed a five-season deal, from 2012-13 to 2016-17 with Concacaf, the governing body of football in North and Central America and the Caribbean, for the rights to the Concacaf Champions League.

The broadcaster will show more than 40 games on a live and delayed basis per season through its Fox Sports and Fox Sports Plus channels and FoxSportsla.com website. The platforms will also show a weekly Concacaf Champions League highlights programme.

The deal covers pay-television and digital rights across Latin America. It also includes free-to-air rights in Mexico and South America.

“We are confident that we’ll turn this tournament into a favourite and make it one of the strongest in the region, leveraging Fox Sports’ wide reach and the synergies of our entertainment, lifestyle and factual channels in Latin America, as we have already done with other Latin American and European events,” Carlos Martinez, the president of Fox International Channels Latin America, said.

The Concacaf Champions League includes teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean. The 2012-13 Concacaf Champions League tournament will start on July 31, 2012 and conclude on May 1, 2013.
