Pay-television broadcaster Fox Sports Netherlands has sealed a rights deal in the country for the Women’s Tennis Association Tour.
The exclusive rights deal will run for five years, from 2017 to 2021.
The agreement ties in with the start of the WTA's new partnership with digital sports media company Perform, which has established WTA Media, the tour's dedicated media arm.
Fox Sports Netherlands already broadcasts the Wimbledon grand slam, ATP World Tour Masters 1000 and World Tour 500 series events, as well as the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals.
“The success of tennis on our Fox Sports channels means that we were keen to add other events and, in acquiring the exclusive broadcast rights of the WTA Tour, we have been able to add the very best of women's tennis to our portfolio,” Rob Labree, the programming director Fox Sports Netherlands, said.
