The Fox Sports division of US network Fox has launched a new mobile application to allow fans to access virtual reality coverage of the college American football game between Ohio State and Oklahoma on September 17.
The ‘Fox Sports VR’ app is powered by virtual reality provider LiveLike and will offer supporters the opportunity to view the game from a ‘Virtual Suite’ or one of various on-field perspectives.
An in-stadium video board will show the live Fox Sports broadcast, while users will also be able to access information such as squad news, schedules and stats from both teams on demand.
Supporters can download the app to their mobile device and sign in with the same credentials they use to access their standard account with Fox Sports.
Users will not need any special VR equipment to access coverage of the game as the app features an interactive, 360-degree viewing experience built specifically for mobile devices. However, fans can also use a Gear VR or cardboard headset VR technology to view the game.
