The English Premier League top-tier club football competition could begin scheduling matches on Friday nights as part of a move to generate additional revenue through rights deals, according to UK newspaper the Sunday Mirror.
The league is expected to launch the tender for its next three-year cycle of rights in the New Year.
It has been suggested that the current number of games broadcast live in the UK every season could increase from 154 in the next cycle, with Friday and Sunday evenings having previously been highlighted as possibilities.
The newspaper said that broadcasters are more interested in the Friday night kick-off slot.
The new kick-off times would have to be approved by club chairmen and scheduled around other domestic and European competitions.
