Gazzetta TV, the Italian sports channel operated by the RCS MediaGroup, has acquired rights to French football’s Trophée des Champions, along with the English Championship and League Cup competitions.
Gazzetta TV will broadcast the 2015 Trophée des Champions, the annual curtain-raiser to the French domestic season. Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais will compete in this year’s game, which takes place in the Canadian city of Montréal on August 1.
Elsewhere, the second tier of English football will return to Italian television for the first time in four years, with Gazzetta TV acquiring rights to the 2015-16 Championship and League Cup, the knockout competition operated by the Football League.
Gazzetta TV’s coverage will commence with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Championship opener against Nottingham Forest on August 7.
