Organisers of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games have secured new broadcast rights deals in the US and Caribbean ahead of the start of the multi-sport event on July 23.
US cable-television channel the CBS Sports Network, which is operated by the CBS network, will hold first-run rights to broadcast a daily highlights package from Glasgow 2014, while cable channel TV Asia will also transmit highlights for the South Asian community in the US on a delayed basis.
Additionally, RJR Communications Group subsidiary Television Jamaica will be the Glasgow 2014 rights-holder and broadcast co-ordinator for the Caribbean and Americas region, providing live coverage and daily highlights.
Glasgow 2014 has more than 30 individual rights deals in place, making it the first edition of the Games to cover all 71 Commonwealth nations and territories in terms of broadcasting. This figure excludes sub-licenses, which account for a significant number of the additional broadcasters.
