Greek pay-television broadcaster Nova has agreed a two-year extension to its rights deal with the Superleague, the top division of football in the country.
Nova currently holds rights to all Superleague matches in a four-season deal, from 2013-14 to 2016-17.
This contract has now been extended to take in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons of the Superleague, ensuring Nova will continue to broadcast the competition for the next four years.
George Borovilos, president of the Superleague, said: “In a particularly difficult economic environment, the extension of the agreement between Superleague and Forthnet (Nova’s parent company), secures the future of Superleague’s member teams for the coming years, allowing them to plan ahead.”
Panos Papadopoulos, chief executive of Forthnet, added: “With the extension of our cooperation with Superleague, we have obtained until 2019, the most popular sports content for our hundreds of thousands of subscribers. In a difficult time for Greek society, as well as for Greek sport, we remain focused on our strategic choices and continue to invest in Greece.”
