Virtual reality technology company NextVR has partnered with MLB Advanced Media, the interactive media and internet arm of Major League Baseball.
The deal announced yesterday (Monday) commenced with the 2016 Home Run Derby event, which was held later that day at San Diego’s Petco Park.
Several virtual reality cameras captured the Home Run Derby, providing field-level shots as well as an outfield camera to capture fans’ reactions.
The virtual reality experience of the 2016 Home Run Derby was made available on-demand directly after the event. Additional highlights of the competition will be available at a later date.
NextVR said the partnership with MLBAM will result in the launch of a new MLB channel on its platform.
