Specialist equestrian sports and lifestyle television channel Horse & Country has acquired the OTT subscription business of Swedish channel Horse1.
Horse1’s subscriber base transferred to Horse & Country’s H&C Play online service today (Monday). Subscribers will not need to re-register.
H&C Play applications are available on mobile devices, and the service can also be watched online.
The deal marks Horse & Country’s latest expansion, with the channel having announced in September a deal with telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom to launch a German channel in the country.
“OTT services are a key element in the suite of products and services we offer to the passionate audience for horses and horse sport,” Horse & Country chief executive Heather Killen said. “They’re young, upmarket, predominantly female and tech savvy, and OTT offers a natural fit with their lifestyles. The addition of Horse1’s subscribers is a major step forward for H&C in Sweden and for the network as a whole, and we look forward to rolling out H&C Play in more markets in the very near future.”
Horse & Country is available in 19 million homes across the UK, Republic of Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Australia.
H&C Play has been available in Sweden for a year.
