Indonesian rights deal signed for AFF Football Championship

Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia (RCTI) has acquired rights in its home country for the AFF Football Championship, a national team tournament organised by the Asean Football Federation.

RCTI has been awarded free-to-air rights for the 2018 and 2020 editions of the tournament by the Lagardère Sports agency, the AFF’s exclusive commercial partner.

RCTI will broadcast the full competition, including qualifiers. This year’s tournament will run from November 8 to December 15, with the AFF having introduced a new format whereby each participating country will play more home matches.

Thailand is the defending champion, having defeated Indonesia in the final of the 2016 competition. The tournament is known commercially as the AFF Suzuki Cup through an agreement with the Japanese automotive and motorcycle manufacturer.
