ISPs ordered to block illegal streaming websites

Six UK internet service providers (ISPs) have been ordered to block subscriber access to three websites that offer live streaming coverage of English football matches.

The Torrentfreak.com digital news website said that the Football Association (FA), the sport’s governing body in England, and the Premier League, which operates the top domestic division, extended the list of websites blocked from the ISPs in the UK High Court.

The Rojadirecta, LiveTV and Drakulastream websites have been added to the list of blocked websites, now totalling 128.

The FA and Premier League started clamping down on illegal streaming websites in 2012, and the report said that more sites are expected to be added to the blacklist in the coming months.

The new additions to the list are reported to represent an expansion of a High Court order against streaming website Firstrow.
