The ITN Productions arm of UK news and multimedia content company ITN has won the contract to produce newspaper group News International’s English Premier League football highlights, according to the Guardian newspaper.
ITN Productions will package 9,500 clips of Premier League games per season for the websites and mobile versions of the Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times newspapers.
News International in January secured the highlights rights in a three-season deal spanning the 2013-14 to 2015-16 campaigns. The Premier League rights are a key component for the Sun’s new digital paywall, which is set to be implemented ahead of the new football season in August.
ITN Productions produced Red Button packages for commercial broadcaster ITV during the 2010 Fifa World Cup, and has a deal with SNTV, the sports video news agency operated by IMG and the Associated Press, for about 10,000 clips a year.
Mark Browning, the managing director of ITN Productions, said: “The Barclays Premier League is as big as it gets for sport in this country, and working with News International on the crown jewels in online and mobile rights firmly positions us in the sports production space.”
