The International World Games Association has launched an online video channel through its theworldgames.org website.
The first events to be shown on the channel will be this month’s Orienteering European Skiing Championships in Tyumen, Russia and the Waterskiing World Cup in Mandalah, Australia.
Other events scheduled for April will be competitions in dance sport, billiards, sports climbing and powerlifting. The channel will carry up-to-date listings and also features 100 highlights videos of the 2013 World Games, which took place in Cali, Colombia.
Television and new media coordinator of the IWGA, Hagen Bossdorf, said: "We intend to strengthen the brand of the World Games and to raise more awareness of our sports in the run-up to the World Games 2017 in Wroclaw/Poland. IWGA provides an additional media channel to showcase their sports for a growing target group. We would also like to be perceived as a family in the years between the World Games."
The IWGA approved the project in May 2013. It was presented to member federations during the International Federations Forum at SportAccord in November 2013 and IWGA received the support of member federations.
IWGA chief executive Joachim Gossow added: "The decisive factor here is close cooperation with the federations who feed their video content into the channel."
