Italian Serie A football clubs Juventus and Roma have opted to terminate contracts for their archive media rights with the Infront Sports & Media agency in favour of agreeing new deals with pay-television broadcaster Sky Italia, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Juventus and Roma had contracts with Infront that were due to run until 2016, but the Italian newspaper said that the clubs had chosen to end these deals.
Archive rights remain outside Serie A’s collective media-rights model, with Infront having had contracts with 19 of the league’s 20 clubs. Juventus and Roma will reportedly join Sassuolo at Sky.
Infront Italy president Marco Bogarelli confirmed the exit of Juventus and Roma to the Ansa news agency. A Sky spokesperson denied that deals had already been signed, but added that the broadcaster would be interested in the rights.
