Kakao launches golf streaming section on internet portal Daum

Korean internet services firm Kakao has launched a new golf media section, including live streaming coverage of major tours, on its online portal Daum.

The new site includes live video coverage of tournaments from the PGA, LPGA, Korean Ladies PGA, and Korean PGA tours. It also carries live scores, highlights videos and other golf content.

Kakao is one of Korea’s biggest tech firms. Its flagship product is the KakaoTalk app, which provides services including messaging and gaming. It also has a ride hailing app and provides internet banking services. Kakao merged with Daum in 2014. Daum is one of Korea’s biggest web portals, providing services including search, email, news, forums and shopping.

Rival internet portal Naver relaunched its mobile golf media section in December, rebranding it as N Golf. The section offers content such as training videos featuring famous Korean golfers, including retired star Seri Pak.
