Online sports broadcaster Laola1.tv, a subsidiary of Sportsman Media Group, has broadened its reach in Austria through a new partnership with telecommunications firm Telekom Austria.
Under the deal, Laola1.tv’s sports content will be available as a television channel to Telekom Austria’s customers through its IPTV service A1 TV.
Laola1.tv will be available to all A1 TV Plus customers from today (Monday). The first highlight of the partnership will be Laola’s live broadcast of the Spanish LaLiga match between Real Madrid and Barcelona on Saturday.
Aside from LaLiga, Laola also holds rights to WTA and ATP tennis tournaments, ice hockey’s Champions Hockey League, Handball Liga Austria and the Volleyball and Table Tennis Champions League.
Karl Wieseneder, chief executive of Laola1, said: “Since our launch eight years ago, Laola1.tv has become one of the internationally most important and successful platforms for live sports broadcasts. With our growing expertise and diverse sports content, which is not yet received on free TV for the most part, the step towards our own TV offering is logical. Sporting highlights like El Clásico will now be possible to receive for a free TV audience for the first time.”
