French digital-terrestrial television channel L’Équipe has agreed a content partnership with Ligue 1 football club Saint-Étienne.
Under the agreement, the length of which was undisclosed, L’Équipe has secured rights to air Saint-Étienne’s competitive games on a delayed basis, as well as the club’s friendly matches.
L’Équipe will broadcast Saint-Étienne’s weekend game at 2:30pm on Mondays, with an emphasis on providing a tactical debrief of the match. The initiative commenced on Monday with coverage of Saint-Étienne’s trip to Paris Saint-Germain on Friday, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Arnaud de Courcelles, director of television for Groupe L’Équipe, said: “This agreement will allow us to offer free-to-air matches with a new approach focused more on analysing and deciphering the game, but also to take viewers to the heart of the club.”
