Manchester City has made its in-house media platform CityTV available through Fire TV, the streaming service of internet company Amazon – a move it claims is a first for an English Premier League football club.
City has launched an app for Fire TV which will allow its global fanbase to access CityTV content via connected televisions.
“As consumers’ viewing habits change and audiences migrate to over-the-top streaming services from companies like Amazon, we want to be there,” Diego Gigliani, senior vice-president for media and innovation at City Football Group, Manchester City’s parent company, said, according to the Prolific North website.
“Amazon Fire TV is a growing platform with huge potential and we’re extremely excited to bring CityTV content to it.”
