Mobile phone operator Bakcell has agreed a deal with Manchester United to become the English Premier League club’s broadcast and telecommunications partner in Azerbaijan.
Under the deal, the Azerbaijani telecommunications company will be able to broadcast the club’s official pay-television channel, MUTV. Bakcell will also provide official club-branded mobile phone packages that offer club news and video highlights of matches.
The deal will run for three years, from 2012-13 to 2014-15.
“Manchester United is pleased to be joining forces with Bakcell,” United’s commercial director, Richard Arnold, said. “The two organisations have a history of being the first in their chosen field: Bakcell were Azerbaijan’s first mobile company way back in 1994 and have gone on to be the country’s most trusted operator, with over 2.5 million customers. This new agreement is another first for Manchester United, with it being the only partnership the club has in the country.”
