French basic-tier sports broadcaster Ma Chaîne Sport has acquired rights for the Copa Libertadores football club cup tournament in Latin America, while beIN Media Group has snapped up rights for this year’s Copa America national team competition, according to the Media Sportif news website.
The length of the MCS deal with the Traffic Sports agency was not disclosed, but will start with the 2015 edition of the tournament, the report said.
MCS has dislodged pay-television broadcaster beIN Media Group as the tournament’s rights-holder in France. MCS had the rights to the competition until 2012, when beIN Media Group became the rights-holder.
BeIN Media Group will show live coverage of all 26 games during the 2015 Copa America, having dislodged pay-television rival Canal Plus as the rights-holder.
