Malaysian media group Media Prima has been appointed as the free-to-air broadcast partner of the country’s top football league and cup competitions for the three seasons from 2016 to 2018.
Under the agreement with the Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership, up to three matches per week for the upcoming season will be provided free-to-air on Media Prima’s television channels and will be simulcast on its online platform, Tonton.
The television broadcast includes live or delayed coverage of two matches per round from the Malaysian Super League and one game per round of the FA Cup from February to May 2016. Media Prima will showcase one match per round from the Malaysia Cup competition when it kicks off in July.
Media Prima will commence its coverage on Saturday with two live matches. The Charity Shield between Super League champion Johor Darul Takzim and Malaysia Cup champion Selangor will air on TV3, while the Super League match between Perak and Kelantan will be on TV9.
The rights agreement between Football Malaysia LLP and Media Prima was negotiated by the MP & Silva agency, the Football Association of Malaysia’s global advisor for all media and commercial rights.
