Spanish broadcaster Mediaset will not broadcast the Copa del Rey domestic club football competition as planned amid a dispute over its rights deal with the Mediapro agency.
Spanish newspaper Marca said Mediaset will not broadcast its scheduled matches as initially agreed conditions behind the deal have not been met.
Mediaset had agreed a deal with Copa del Rey rights-holder Mediapro to broadcast two matches from the Round of 16, two quarter-final encounters and the four semi-final matches.
The Round of 16 commences later today (Wednesday) with four matches scheduled. Mediaset was due to simulcast its matches with Mediapro’s digital-terrestrial broadcaster Gol.
Mediaset has broadcast the last three finals of the Copa del Rey through its commercial channel Telecinco.
