Spanish commercial broadcaster Mediaset has acquired rights to the latter stages of the ongoing edition of the French Open tennis grand slam, as Rafael Nadal seeks to secure a record 10th title on the clay at Roland-Garros.
Mediaset will broadcast the Spanish superstar’s semi-final against Dominic Thiem via its Cuatro channel on Friday. Mediaset will then broadcast Sunday’s men’s final via a channel that is yet to be determined.
Nadal secured passage through to the semi-finals earlier today (Wednesday) after his quarter-final opponent, fellow Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta, retired injured while trailing 6-2, 2-0. He will play Thiem after the Austrian secured a straight-sets win over reigning champion Novak Djokovic.
Mediaset has acquired the rights after previously covering the finals in 2012 and 2013, both of which resulted in Nadal victories.
