Spanish commercial broadcaster Mediaset Spain has acquired rights for the final week of the French Open tennis tournament.
Mediaset-operated channels Energy and Cuatro have been lined up to provide coverage.
Digital-terrestrial channel Energy will show highlights of each day of action from Roland Garros in Paris, while commercial broadcaster Cuatro will show live coverage of the semi-finals and final of the competition if a Spanish player reaches that stage.
The deal means that this year’s tournament, which was already being shown in Spain via pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus, will now receive free-to-air coverage in the country.
Mediaset reached the agreement with the MP & Silva agency.
