MP & Silva and MLS agree one-year contract extension

MP & Silva has agreed a one-year contract extension with Major League Soccer that will allow the agency to continue to sell rights to the top-tier US football league on a global basis until the end of 2014. The agency’s previous four-year deal with the league was due to expire at the end of the 2013 season.

MP & Silva will continue to sell rights in all territories outside of North America.
The rights cover the league’s regular-season and play-offs campaign including the climax to the season, the MLS Cup final.

“We are very proud to have worked with Major League Soccer since 2008 and to have been part of their international growth since then,” Carlo Pozzali, MP & Silva’s chief executive for the Americas, said. “With more international players joining the league and more clubs sure to come on board in future years, the future of MLS is bright.”

League president Mark Abbott added: “We look forward to continuing to work with them to build the profile of MLS outside of the United States and Canada.”

MP & Silva said that coverage of the league’s 2011 season reached 118 million homes in 112 countries.
