The MP & Silva agency has agreed a deal to market the rights for the 2016 Team Challenge Cup, the first edition of a new figure skating event.
Sanctioned by the International Skating Union, the three-day event will run from April 22-24 next year and feature figure skaters from around the world.
Athletes will compete in a continental team competition between Asia, Europe and North America. Each team will consist of three ladies, three men, two teams of pairs and two ice dance teams.
MP & Silva will serve as the exclusive worldwide rights distributor, with the exception of the US and Japan. The agency will distribute rights across all platforms including television, online, IPTV and mobile.
The deal "positions" MP & Silva as the distribution partner for future editions of the event beyond 2016, the agency said.
“This event is a fantastic idea with huge potential, providing international figure staking fans a chance to see their favourite stars compete in a new competition,” the agency’s chief executive, Marco Auletta, said. “MP & Silva will use its international network of TV broadcasting expertise to deliver this unique event around the globe.”
