MP & Silva to sell Venezuela v Nigeria rights

The MP & Silva agency has acquired the global rights for live coverage of the Venezuela v Nigeria friendly match on November 14 in Miami, the US.

The agency has acquired the rights, which exclude the markets of the competing countries, from the Univa Sports company, which has a three-match deal with the Federación Venezolana de Fútbol, the Venezuelan Football Federation.

The Venezuela v Nigeria match is the first of three matches that Univa Sports will arrange. Under the contract, Venezuela will play two more matches next year against yet-to-be identified opponents.

The rights in Nigeria have already been acquired by the D1D2 Sport media company. D1D2 acquired the rights from the Nigeria Football Federation. It is understood that D1D2 has also submitted an offer to the MP & Silva agency for rights to the match in Europe, Sudan, Australia, Scandinavia and the UAE.

D1D2 chief executive Mahesh Bajaj said that interest in the Nigeria national team had been reignited by its qualification for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
