The NBA basketball league has extended partnerships with digital services and telecommunications providers Globe Telecom, Smart Communications and PLDT to distribute its NBA League Pass subscription service across the Philippines.
The three companies will offer League Pass, Team Choice and 3-Game Choice packages to subscribers, with monthly pricing options starting at Php85 (€1.51/$1.68).
Subscribers wishing to stream games on mobile devices can register to Globe’s data packages via text, and Smart’s data packages by dialling *123# and choosing GIGA VIDEO.
NBA League Pass provides live and on-demand access to every NBA game and offers live stats and multiple viewing options, including NBA Mobile View. Team Choice gives fans the option to follow one team, with 3-Game Choice offering users the chance to watch up to three games of their choice each month.
NBA League Pass also includes exclusive NBA TV programming such as NBA GameTime, The Warmup, #Handles and The List.
Last month, the NBA announced a deal to stream live coverage of selected games in the Philippines free of charge on social media platforms Facebook and Twitter.
The deal was signed after Philippines-based pay-television broadcasters Basketball TV and NBA Premium TV ceased broadcasting on October 1, leaving the NBA without a TV rights deal in the country.
Pay-television operators Cignal and Sky later entered a joint offer for rights to the NBA, with the two companies currently in talks with the league over the “common goal” of delivering content to Filipino fans.
