The NBC Sports division of US media company NBCUniversal and the University of Notre Dame have agreed a 10-year rights extension, from 2016 to 2025.
Under the agreement, NBC Sports will show at least seven of the university’s American football home games per season.
According to the ESPN news website, the agreement is worth $15 million (€11.5 million) per year.
The deal, which covers all platforms, extends the partnership between the university and NBC to 35 years and marks the first time that a contract has exceeded five years in duration.
The deal allows for occasional games to be broadcast on the NBC Sports Network pay-television channel, as is the case in the existing five-year deal, from 2011 to 2015.
