US network NBC will provide live coverage of 20 games from the Premier League next season as part of parent company NBCUniversal’s three-year rights deal, from 2013-14 to 2015-16, for the top division of football in England.
The NBC Sports division of NBCU also said that it would show 154 matches live on pay-television channel NBC Sports Network, 76 games live on Spanish-language channels Telemundo or Mun2, and 22 matches live on NBC Sports’ other channels.
NBC Sports will also show a weekly two-hour Saturday evening highlights programme that will be modelled on, and named after, UK public-service broadcaster the BBC’s long-running Match of the Day programme. NBC Sports will also show Match of the Day 2 – a 90-minute highlights programme – on Sunday evenings.
NBC Sports Network will show a full re-run of the best match of the weekend on Sunday nights, a programme on Monday nights focusing on the weekend games involving Manchester United and Manchester City, and a show on Tuesday nights focusing on the games featuring Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Each match will also be available to stream live through online, mobile and tablet platforms.
