The National Cable Television Cooperative, a consortium of cable-television broadcasters in the US, has reached a deal to carry the Pac-12 Networks, the pay-television channels dedicated to covering the Pac-12 college sports conference.
The NCTC struck the long-term agreement with Pac-12 Enterprises, the conference’s media distribution company.
Financial terms and the length of the deal were not disclosed.
The Pac-12 Networks, which will go live on August 15 and comprise one national and six regional pay-television channels, will be available to NCTC member broadcasters from their launch date.
Members of the consortium will also have access to all of the Pac-12 Networks’ live programming through the TV Everywhere internet television initiative, which aims to encourage pay-television subscribers to register their subscriptions online so they can access pay-television content over the internet as well as via cable or satellite television at no extra charge.
The NCTC, which represents more than 900 cable operators in the US, has joined cable-television operators Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications and Bright House Networks as Pac-12 Networks partners.
The Pac-12 Networks will feature 850 live sporting events per year including 35 American football and more than 120 men’s basketball games in the first year, as well as studio shows, special features and on-demand content.
