New Concacaf general secretary has global broadcast ambitions

Concacaf, the governing body of football in North and Central America and the Caribbean, wants to recruit a distribution company to sell the organisation’s broadcast rights in markets across the world, according to its new general secretary, Enrique Sanz.

“I think it’s very important that we promote our tournaments,” Sanz told the Goal.com website. “We’re going to look for a partner to sell our transmission rights outside of the continent. We must support the growth of smaller leagues and domestic tournaments so that we have more players go out and become well-known in Europe. We’ve grown a lot recently, but it’s necessary to keep growing.”

Sanz, who was appointed in July, joined Concacaf after leaving his role as vice-president of sports marketing company Traffic Sports USA.
