BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of UK public-service broadcaster the BBC, has agreed a number of new international rights deals for this year’s Royal Ascot horse racing event.
Australian commercial broadcaster Channel Seven, French pay-television broadcaster beIN Sport (owned by Al Jazeera), and Eurosport Asia, the Asia-Pacific channel of Eurosport, all acquired rights to the 2012 Royal Ascot meeting.
In total, BBC Worldwide has licensed this year’s event in 91 territories. Canadian, Italian and Japanese public-service broadcasters CBC, Rai, and NHK, are among the rights-holders.
Royal Ascot, one of British horse racing’s showpiece events, takes place from June 19-23.
