Global sports agency Octagon has reached a multi-tier media rights consulting partnership with the Football Association of Thailand in which the company’s Global Media Rights Consulting division will advise the body on rights for both its national teams and domestic leagues.
Octagon will provide media rights data and research, valuation, and sales strategy services, as well as help mine new media distribution opportunities and increased revenue for FA Thailand.
“The Thai Football League, along with the men’s and women’s National Teams, are some of the fastest growing and most successful football properties in Asia, and we’re excited to work with the Football Association of Thailand to help take the league and its teams to new levels,” said Daniel Cohen, senior vice-president of Octagon’s Global Media Rights Consulting division.
The deal represents a desire by Octagon to increase its presence and activity in Asia, while FA Thailand similarly is looking to use its media assets to grow further beyond its borders. FA Thailand’s next cycle of domestic and international media rights begins January 1.
“We are excited to…create a long-term proposition for media distribution on the global stage,” said Somyot Poompanmoung, FA Thailand president.
