The Octagon sports marketing agency has launched a new global media-rights consultancy.
The new venture will provide strategic consultation to major domestic and international rights holders, broadcasters, emerging distribution platforms and investors in the sports market.
The service will be supported by analytics provided by Futures Sport & Entertainment, a consultancy that is owned by Interpublic Group, which is also Octagon’s parent company.
The new venture will be led by Daniel Cohen, who will serve as senior vice-president of Octagon Media Rights Consulting. Cohen most recently worked at the MP & Silva agency as managing partner and senior vice-president, Americas. Prior to that, Cohen was senior vice-president of business development and sales at the Bloomberg Sports data provider.
Cohen will report to Octagon’s chief strategy officer, Simon Wardle, and will be based in Octagon’s New York office.
“Everyone from the largest rights-holders to niche properties, established social media platforms to digital start-ups, and VR companies to VC investors are trying to figure out what’s next in the rapidly evolving media space,” Wardle said. “By providing a data-based end-to-end solution, Daniel and his team can help all of these constituents evaluate content and drive value across broadcast and digital platforms.”
