Telecommunications company Econet has confirmed the appointment of Jeroen Oerlemans as the new chief executive of the Kwesé Sports division of African pay-television broadcaster Kwesé TV.
Oerlemans is a former vice-president of global acquisitions at the MP & Silva agency.
TV Sports Markets first reported that Oerlemans was in advanced talks to become the new Kwesé Sports chief executive on November 4.
“Oerlemans will be responsible for leading our sports business and operations including developing our in-house production capability,” Econet Media chief executive Joseph Hundah said. “He will also play a critical role in establishing Kwesé Sports as a source of leading sporting content and supporting local African leagues across various sporting codes.”
