Olympic Channel-branded content will launch on international sports broadcaster Eurosport in August as part of a new partnership announced this (Friday) morning between the latter’s parent company, Discovery Communications, and the International Olympic Committee-operated channel.
Under the agreement, which will launch on August 2 and cover 50 markets in Europe, Eurosport’s channels and the Eurosport Player digital service will show Olympic Channel-branded programming, with Eurosport also securing a presence on the Olympic Channel.
There will also be an Olympic Channel digital portal available via Eurosport.com, while the channel will have a dedicated presence on Eurosport’s local Facebook and Twitter social media accounts.
Eurosport will also produce new and exclusive original content across all platforms, as well as access to localised content, original series, news and other features. The Olympic Channel will promote Eurosport’s platforms, with its coverage of live sporting events and the Olympic Games.
The Olympic Channel-branded content will include magazine programmes such as ‘On the Line’, ‘Against All Odds’ and ‘The Olympics: On The Record’.
Eurosport will also present an annual theme week filled with round-the-clock Olympic sports programming and content.
The agreement will run until 2024, when Discovery’s current Europe-wide rights deal for the summer and winter Olympic Games will expire.
