North American sports broadcaster One World Sports has agreed a strategic rights deal with Spanish-language US broadcaster Univision Deportes for carriage of Barça TV, the in-house television channel operated by Spanish LaLiga football club Barcelona.
One World Sports will serve as the exclusive English-language US television home of Barça TV, while Univision Deportes will act as its Spanish-language platform.
Across all its platforms, One World Sports gains access to exclusive player interviews, special event coverage and match-day analysis. One World Sports will also provide repeat broadcasts of all Barcelona matches, including LaLiga, Uefa Champions League and Copa del Rey games.
“This new deal with One World Sports is one way we are leveraging our extensive portfolio rights in ways that make sense for our business,” Juan Carlos Rodriguez, president of Univision Deportes, said. “This agreement allows Univision Deportes to deliver soccer content our fans care about most on Univision's platforms while maximising the value and exposure of our rights portfolio.”
One World Sports commenced broadcasting Barça TV yesterday (Wednesday). One World Sports last month struck a multi-year deal to begin carrying Juventus TV, the in-house television channel operated by Italian Serie A football club Juventus.
