NASL secures national TV platform with One World Sports deal

North American pay-television broadcaster One World Sports has agreed a multi-year partnership with the North American Soccer League.

Under the agreement, One World Sports becomes a national television partner of the NASL and will air one live game from the league every week on Wednesday nights.

Fort Lauderdale Strikers and Carolina RailHawks will be the first live match to be broadcast under the NASL Wednesday Night Soccer on One World Sports banner tonight.

A Tuesday night highlights show from the second tier of North American soccer, NASL This Week, will also air on One World Sports.

One World Sports has served as the exclusive television partner of NASL franchise the New York Cosmos for the past two years. In the midst of its fifth season, the deal with the NASL will mean the league will be regularly available on national television for the first time.

The league currently broadcasts all of its games online, in addition to the many local television stations that carry NASL action through their direct partnerships with the clubs.

“Broadcasting is always evolving – perhaps never as quickly as the present,” NASL commissioner Bill Peterson said. “We have created a very competitive structure, and we’re taking a nimble approach to delivering broadcasts to our growing fan base in North America and around the globe.”
