North American sports broadcaster One World Sports has agreed a sublicensing deal with the NBC Sports Group division of US media group NBCUniversal for rights to the 2016 World Ice Hockey Championships in the American market.
Under the agreement with International Ice Hockey Federation rights holder NBC Sports, approximately 20 of the games will air live on One World Sports from the host cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia.
One World Sports' coverage begins with Sweden's game against Latvia on May 6 and includes defending champion Canada’s face-off against Finland on May 17. All games broadcast by One World Sports will be available across the network’s platforms including linear, web and the Watch One World Sports app.
Highlights of all games broadcast on both One World Sports and pay-television channel NBC Sports Network will also be available on One World Sports’ various platforms.
The 2016 IIHF World Championship takes place in Russia from May 6-22. The US national team took the bronze medal in last year’s event in the Czech Republic.
