A new digital application that will provide simultaneous live coverage of every game from football’s English Premier League will be launched by Australian telecommunications company Optus in early July.
In November Optus acquired exclusive rights in Australia for all Premier League games in a deal that will run for three seasons, from 2016-17 to 2018-19.
After initially announcing that the coverage would only be free to people on plans costing more than A$80 (€53/$59) per month, Optus last week created a special offer that will allow anyone signing up for a plan from A$30 per month to access coverage of the league for free for the first year.
The new app will also feature highlights and the ability to replay games as soon as they have finished and scroll back through live programming. It will also provide access to Optus’ 24/7 live Premier League channel, which will feature two news shows per day, analysis shows, fantasy football shows, magazine programmes and two fan phone-ins per day.
