Austrian public-service broadcaster ORF has acquired rights to a portfolio of national team properties marketed by Uefa, European football’s governing body.
ORF has secured television and online rights to the Euro 2020 tournament and all qualification matches featuring the Austrian national team for the European Championships and 2022 Fifa World Cup from 2018 to 2022.
The contract also includes the 2018-19 and 2020-21 Nations League competitions and other international matches.
The new Nations League received the unanimous backing of all 54 Uefa member associations at a meeting of the governing body in March 2014. The competition is designed to enhance the attractiveness of national team friendlies and will replace a number of windows set aside for such games.
ORF said the package of rights will allow it to broadcast around 40 Austria games during the length of the contract.
