Public-service broadcaster ORF has extended its rights to domestic club football competition the ÖFB Cup as part of a wide-ranging four-season deal with the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB).
The new contract runs from 2018-19 to 2021-22 and also includes rights to other club and national team properties.
ORF will broadcast all home matches of the women’s national team and the U21 national team for the next four years.
It will also broadcast at least 10 live matches per season from the women’s Bundesliga and the ÖFB Ladies Cup. The ÖFB added that additional content opportunities across women’s and youth football are being discussed.
Hans Peter Trost, head of sports for ORF, said: “It is in the sense of the fee-paying football fan very pleasing that football does not disappear entirely behind pay barriers. The UNIQA ÖFB Cup winner will be in the group stage of the Uefa Europa League, which is another great incentive for the participating clubs and makes the event even more attractive for the spectators.
“The ORF has dedicated itself intensively to the topic of women's football, and this commitment will also be continued and expanded.”
