Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A football club Palmeiras has agreed to assign its pay-television rights to Esporte Interativo, according to multiple Brazilian media reports.
Although Palmeiras is yet to officially confirm the deal, it will reportedly end its association with media company Globo in favour of a six-year agreement with Esporte Interativo that will run from 2019 to 2024.
Of the current 20 Serie A clubs, only Palmeiras had yet to agree a deal with either broadcaster for its pay-television rights from 2019 onwards. The Sao Paulo team’s addition will add to Esporte Interativo’s Serie A portfolio, which already includes current top-tier clubs Atlético-PR, Coritiba, Internacional, Ponte Preta, Santos, Figueirense and Santa Cruz.
Palmeiras will reportedly make the deal official after the end of the current 2016 Serie A season, which is set to conclude next month.
