Golf’s PGA Tour will retain its media-rights partnerships with the NBC and CBS networks in the US through to 2021 after a September 1 deadline to opt out of the agreements passed.
The tour would have been able to opt out of the deals as early as 2018.
The tour’s rights deal with pay-television broadcaster, Golf Channel, also runs until 2021. However, it does not include an opt-out clause.
Tour commissioner Jay Monahan (pictured) has previously said that the organisation is not currently considering launching its own channel. However, the tour has streamed coverage of events via social media platform Twitter and the PGA Tour Live app.
